A cornice plane is a narrow plane used for cutting grooves, half-grooves, and for planing cornices, door frames and window frames. The blade of the moulding plane is set at a 45° angle to the surface being planed, almost in the centre of the plane’s body, and planes across the entire width of the plane. The body of the plane is made of beech wood, whilst the blade is made of hornbeam wood.
