The glass fibre provides stability and increases safety of the cutting disc. The higher the glass fibre content, the better the side stability. The higher the potential side load of the cutting disc gets (handheld tools show higher side load than stationary tools), the higher or more stable glass fibre content is required. Thin kerf cutting discs (0.8 – 1.0mm) use thin glass fibre to create enough space for grain among individual fibre layers.
